  • The transport department of Tripura, an undertaking (public) found it eligible for the provisions stated in 2005 Right to Information Act. It is the lonely government body, which controls each transport related issues and controls over many areas. The headquarter is situated in the west districts of Tripura which is the office of joint transport commissioner as well as different offices are also situated in north, south and districts of Dhalai regions. The main branch office is situated at Dharmanagar. The other unit is at Churaibari gate whose main function is to inspect all the vehicles for the toll tax, which passes from that road.
  • TUTCL strives to provide safe and affordable public transport service to the common people of Tripura by connecting all administrative centres and others far-flung areas.
  • At present department has a fleet strength of 280 buses covering 119 routes connecting almost all the District HQ in the State as well as other administrative centres. Department has 15 (fifteen) full-fledged stations in the districts and 7 Sub-Stations. It has Inter-State Bus Services connecting all neighbouring states of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland. In addition Cargo and Sumo services are being operated from almost all stations. The Department has a total of 280 Buses as well as 44 (Forty-Four) Sumos and 30 (Thirty) Xylos for far and remote places.
  • To make TUTCL more friendly and equipped with latest technology, it is planned for :-
  • 1. Procurement of new Luxury Buses enabled with GPS Tracking, AC and other amenities.
  • 2. Cargo services- carrying of goods and essential items to far flung areas.
  • 3. Providing Concessional Cards to Students and Govt. staffs.
  • 4. Free Travel Pass to Differently abled, Special categories along with one escort.
  • 5. Carriage of postal mail.
